RM2BW2551–Doctors transferred by lifeboat to perform operation in Mid Ocean. Dr Frederik C Devendorf, ships surgeon and Dr P L Turner, who was making the crews as a passenger, were transferred by lifeboat from the ' Berinquen' of the Porto Rico Line to the SS Luna to perform an emergency operation in mid Ocean on Chief Officer Brooker of the Luna. With fire raging in her holds , the British motor vessel ' Silver Larch ' sent an SOS from mid Pacific as the crew fought desperately to get the flames under control . The American warship USS Louisville ( CA 28 ) answered the call and took off eight passengers , but the crew remained on board as the freighter limped back to Pearl Harbour , Haiti . RM2BW29X9–Foundered yachts crew at Southampton after mid-Channel rescue. Rescued by the steamer 'St Briac' when they yacht 'Tess' sank in the English Channel after a 10 hours fight with the gale, the crew of the yacht were landed at Southampton. They were on their way from Havre to Southampton when caught in the gale and despite their efforts with the pumps the yacht began to sink. They had to burn their beds to attract attention.
