China will widen the field of permitted investment fields for insurance companies to include real estate as well as in non-publicly traded companies, guandian.cn reports July 20 citing a statement by China Insurance Regulatory Commission (CIRC) President Wu Dingfu. Chinas insurance industry recorded an average return on investment of 1.93% in the first half of 2010, with total returns of RMB 75.5 billion (US$11.14 billion), the report said.
