Activists gathered in protest against fox hunting and called for the Hunting Act to be strengthened outside Southwark Crown Court on the first day of Mark Hankinson's appeal hearing. Hankinson, a disgraced former director of the Hunting Office and huntsman, was found guilty of encouraging or assisting others to use "trail hunting" as a cover for illegally chasing and killing foxes.
