Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, February 20, 2017: Black Bloc tries to stop press work. Demonstrators protested in the streets of downtown Rio against the privatization of CEDAE (water and sewage company in Rio de Janeiro). The state-owned company does not provide a quality service to the population, but it is profitable for the public coffers. With the severe financial crisis that affects the state of Rio de Janeiro, the federal government demanded that the State privatize CEDAE and create austerity measures that will impact the wages and benefits of civil servants. The headquarters of CEDAE are located a few meters from the Sambodromo, the main tourist attraction of the city during the Carnival, some demonstrators damaged bars and visual signs that had been installed for the carnival.
